I have noticed that the only way sweet potatoes are prepared in Zimbabwe is by boiling them. This is why I have decided to share one of the many ways to prepare them which is – frying them. So here is what you will need.

Make sure you have:

  • a knife
  • a cutting board
  • a food dish

Ingredients:

  • Sweet Potato Fries – Mbambaira
  • Spices
  • Mixed herbs
  • salt
  • One tablespoon of oil

Directions

  1. Peel your sweet potatoes, cut them into equal strips (the fries shape lol) and soak them in the dish with water for 30 minutes or more depending on how patient you are. This is to remove the starch.
  2. Preheat your oven.
  3. Mix the chips with your favorite herbs and spices, not forgetting the salt.
  4. Mix with oil
  5. Put them in the oven and remove when they look something like the picture below.
  6. Enjoy your fries.
